Position Title: Director/Vice President, Membership & Investor Services (position title and compensation commensurate with candidate’s experience)

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid) preferred/flexible on other major financial hubs

Reports to:  Vice President, Membership & Investor Services

Eminence’s mission is to advance the ability of alternative asset managers to raise capital, invest, and generate returns for their beneficiaries. Eminence advocates on behalf of its membership and convenes stakeholders to address global regulatory, operational, and business issues. Eminence’s member firms collectively manage a diverse group of investment strategies. Member firms help pension plans, university endowments, charitable foundations, and other institutional investors to diversify their investments, manage risk, and generate attractive returns over time.

Position Summary: The Director/Vice President, Membership & Investor Services, will be responsible for executing the overall membership strategy, inclusive of the following: new member origination, existing member relationship management, interfacing with the Association’s membership committee, new member onboarding and membership database quality and usage.

  • Work closely with internal departments to support programs, events and member interactions with the goal of elevating member value, enhancing awareness of Eminence’s brand, and advancing the mission of the Association.
  • Develop, execute, report and measure the overall membership strategy of the Association;
  • Develop and execute membership origination and retention plan, including marketing campaigns, to support growth in the fund manager and service provider segments;
  • Manage membership inquiries and assess how best to respond proactively across Eminence teams.
  • Oversee the organization’s CRM database to ensure accurate data capture and broad adoption across the Eminence organization.
  • Represent the association at industry events, Eminence conferences and ad hoc as needed.
  • Interface with institutional investors and alternatives allocators to drive investor attendance at conferences, identify opportunities for manager/investor interaction and gain LP support of the association more broadly.
  • Establish new member relationships across various industry segments and geographies, including United States and Europe.
  • Contribute to the design of effective tools and messages to demonstrate the value proposition to potential members and ensure that all stakeholder material clearly communicates these messages.
  • Contribute to the development of customized marketing materials for individual prospective members.
  • Conduct market research to track and prioritize potential members.
  • Support Eminence team in the management of existing member relationships.
  • Be a relentless advocate for the member experience, working collaboratively across the organization’s functional areas, while understanding how to drive business and mission priorities.
  • Apply market intelligence, best practices, and association research to develop and implement innovative strategies to meet the established annual membership goals.
  • Monitor news outlets and alternative databases and newsletters for pertinent information related to members, prospects and investors.
  • Apply best practices and processes to develop and implement innovative strategies to meet the established annual team goals.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Qualification and Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred; advanced degree or financial certification designation desirable.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in a client-driven organization, that includes managing the full sales and relationship management life cycle.
  • Experience in working with fund managers, intermediaries and institutional investors.
  • Ability to achieve rapid fluency in major policy priorities of Eminence members firms.
  • Ability to contribute data-driven insight into member development activities, working fluently with the firm’s CRM across the organization.
  • Strong research skills utilizing industry databases, news, internet searches and internal systems;
  • Driven self-starter who works effectively and efficiently with colleagues and members at all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented culture that values the importance of being a good teammate, communicator, and partner.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-start, think ahead, problem solve, and engage proactively with high professionalism, reliability, and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Comfort in public speaking, informal and formal presentations.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Occasional domestic and international business travel is required.

Disclaimer: The annual base salary range for this position is $180,000 – $220,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Please note that the annual base salary range provided is a general guideline and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. These factors include, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, years of work experience/expertise, work location, education/training, internal peer equity, and external market data.
