Position Title: Vice President, Head of EU Government Affairs

Reports to: Managing Director, Head of EMEA Government Affairs

Member firms help pension plans, university endowments, charitable foundations, and other institutional investors to diversify their investments, manage risk, and generate attractive returns over time.
Position Summary: The Vice President is responsible for leading Eminence’s activity in Brussels. The role will be a key part of Eminence’s international government affairs team, working directly with teammates in Brussels, London, Washington, DC, and New York to shape relevant policy and regulation in Europe and globally.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of Managing Director, Head of EMEA Government Affairs, this role will be a key part of the team that develops Eminence’s global presence according to specific objectives.
- Undertake best-in-class advocacy, insights and networking in the EU on behalf of member funds.
- Develop and execute a policy engagement strategy in the EU to deliver Eminence’s strategic objectives.
- Lead policy engagement, organising responses to stakeholder consultations, building alliances and relationships across the EU.
- Analyse EU and member state policy and regulatory developments and prepare reports, with recommendations, for Eminence members and staff.
- Provide a hub for European managers seeking connectivity to Eminence’s full suite of offerings in Europe and the United States.
- Coordinate closely with all Eminence teams to prepare responses to EU stakeholder consultations and achieve globally coordinated outcomes that are synchronised with the global nature of the funds sector.
- Identify and assist in strategically promoting and supporting Eminence through events and developing new commercial opportunities for the association.
- Contribute to growing the Eminence brand and membership outside of the US, including by extending Eminence content (conferences, member services, research and communications).
- Influence and build relationships to ensure synergies with Eminence and the European institutional investor community (e.g. pension funds).
- Liaise with policymakers, academics, think tanks, and other trade associations to amplify the priorities of Eminence, collect information, build alliances, and position Eminence to maximise its reach and influence.
- Coordinate research activities with investment funds, banks, and other market participants.
- Oversee Brussels office operations and uphold the highest standards in line with regional employment laws and Eminence culture and values.
- Adhere to the requirements of Eminence’s registration with the EU Transparency Register and code of conduct.

Qualification and Requirements:
- Graduate in a relevant field such as law, business, economics, finance, or international affairs, is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of strong experience in policymaking, policy analysis, or advocacy focusing on EU institutions.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of EU policy-making and regulatory processes for financial services.
- Possesses a network of relationships with policymakers and regulators.
- Knowledge of hedge fund issues preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment with managing people and processes.

- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Fluent English speaker/writer; proficiency in other major European languages.
- Occasional business travel to EU member state capitals, UK and US.
